Newsletter - August 30, 2021

First graders had a great time creating self-portraits.  Following step-by-step directions from an adorable six year old, these kids did an awesome job with their first directed drawing.

We had a little visitor in Highland Island.  This picture was taken from inside the classroom looking outside and you can see the curious insect on the screen.

1st week of school and due to Covid, I was only comfortable capturing action photos outside. These kids are managing the excessive heat in classrooms without air conditioning like champs. I'm so proud of their positive attitudes.

Meet the Teacher - Welcome Families!

 Dear Families, 

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! This is going to be a great year! Our days will be filled with fun and engaging learning activities. The development of essential reading, writing and math skills is at the core of our first grade curriculum. We will also focus on creating a caring community of learners through respecting differences, extending kindness and supporting the needs of all friends. Celebrations are important in first grade and we will continually recognize and celebrate positive progress!

With your help, we will create a wonderful learning experience for your child so (s)he develops a mindset for a love of learning.
