120th Day of School & 3/10/14 Newsletter

Typically, the 100th day of school marks a major milestone in first grade.  This year, we're celebrating the 120th day of school to reinforce the 1st grade math Common Core standard in Numbers and Operations in Base Ten to count to 120.  Tuesday is our big day and we have lots of activities planned!
To upload or view the activities, click on the cover page.
During this exercise, the kiddos enjoy the movement and challenge of making estimates that are close to the actual count.
For those who need more support, I'll write in some numbers and the children will fill in the missing numbers.
 For painting 120 count designs.

Making Words - the kids cut out and manipulate the letters to make as many words as possible.

We really did have a Seuss-tacular week last week! Our wonderful (and beautiful!) room mother read to the children and provided One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish snacks.   Her first grader was so excited about the book, he joined the read-aloud as well.
